Schemes of salvation

Using the article we read in class, and doing a little more research on your own, give a brief description of the scheme of salvation in one of the major world religions (Hinduism, Buddhism, Christianity, Islam, Judaism, etc.). Your description should include:

1. A description of the human predicament according to that religion: what is the root cause of the fact that our lives are troublesome and often miserable?
2. A description of the solution: what can human beings do to escape from their predicament?
3. A description of the desired end state of the process of salvation (i.e. Nirvana, new heavens and new earth, being in heaven, etc.)

  1. Islam thinks that people are weak and forgetful. God only loves and forgives people that obey him. The solution to this problem is performing five religious pillars. The five are Confession of faith, Prayer, Fasting, Almsgiving, and a Pilgrimage to Mecca. Only Muslim go to Mecca once in a lifetime. After doing all of that you must pray to Allah. You must pledge complete allegiance to him. You will gain salvation in the future, it will lead you into Islam's paradise. The way you gain that is by giving into Allah. That is how someone gains slavation in Islam.

  3. According to Buddhism, the human predicament rises from ignorance, pleasure, and desire. For Buddhists there is an end to which salvation leads to called nirvana. To reach nirvana a human has to go through many lives, or resurrections. The ultimate goal is to escape these succession of lives to reach nirvana through the Four Noble Truths. One must be delivered from suffering while still living. These Four Noble Truths are 1. Life means suffering (since humans and the world are not perfect. throughout our lives we have to endue pain mentally and physically) 2.The origin of suffering is attachment (attachment to the simple objects around us and ideas. we are considered ignorant because we do not understand why we are attached to material things) 3. The cessation of suffering is attainable (Nirvana is the ultimate goal) 4.The path to the cessation of suffering (there is an end to suffering) Nirvana is the freedom of all worries, troubles, and ideas.

  4. Many people think that Hindus are polytheistic, but they are actually believed in one divine, all-powerful God. There are many other deities in the religion; however, people are getting these deities confused as Gods. They are merely demi-Gods. There is only one true God, and his divine abode, in Hinduism. The main reason for suffering on this earth, according to Hinduism, is Maya (worldly attachments). Worldly attachments could be music if you listen to it too much, money if you are attached to it, or even clothes. if we spend more than our income on clothes, it could make us suffer. These are all forms of Maya. In order to detach yourself from Maya, according to Hinduism, you must realize true god and his divine abode. God keeps a God-realized saint on this earth to help us stay on the right path. if we attain the god realized saint, then we attain God's divine abode, after we depart from this world. This world is considered as a test for us, to see if we are ready for God's divine abode. The name of this divine abode is called Akshardham.

  5. In Christianity, the human predicament is a result of the "original sin". This first crime against God was commited by the first woman and man, thus life was made difficult for mankind. The only way people can acheive salvation is if they place faith in Jesus Christ, allowing them access into the blissful paradise of heaven, which will be remade along with Earth after the final battle of Judgement Day.

  6. There are many religions in the world today. In Christianity, the human predicament is a result of the "original sin". The first crime against god occurred with adam & eve. The crime they committed was eating the apple of the tree in which god told them not to eat from. The only way people can achieve salvation is if they place faith in Jesus Christ, allowing them access into the blissful paradise of heaven, which will be remade along with Earth after the final battle of Judgement Day, a day famously known to history.

  7. Jewish tradition dictates that God is a being benevolent mainly to the descendents of Abraham (with whom he has a covenant). Jews believe that sin is punished at a price, and in order that they may attain salvation, they must choose priests to communicate with God. These priests must (in ancient tradition) make animal sacrifices and (still in modern tradition) live a pure life of faith and teach the people the word of God.

  8. In Buddhism, life is full of suffering; it is everywhere we look, and not even death can free us from it, as there is reincarnation in Buddhism. According to Buddhism, the root of all this suffering is materialism, as suffering occurs when we lose something we value. Therefore, the natural conclusion is that the way to eliminate suffering is to give up attachment to material things. Those who manage to free themselves from all materialism, an arduous process that must take several lifetimes, become prophets of Buddhism, (such as its founder, Siddhartha Gautama) and attain the desired end state of Buddhism, which is called nirvana. This consists of the complete dissolution of the individual in the "sea of the whole".

  9. In Buddhism, it is believed that suffering is the human predicament and that attachment is the root of this problem. Buddhists believe that being attached to earthly things (e.g. material possessions, pets, other people, etc.) ultimately leads to suffering and pain. The solution to escaping this suffering is to become enlightened, which will allow one to detach from earthly pleasures and break from the cycle of reincarnation. The ultimate goal of a Buddhist is to achieve Nirvana. To do this, Buddhists must obey the Four Noble Truths. Buddhists do not believe that there is a divine being in control of their fates. They believe that one must save themself through moral and physical discipline. When a person achieves Nirvana, they are in a state of peace and bliss, but this state is not personal. They are not entirely aware of the state that they are in. Nirvana can be compared to a single drop of water falling into a pool of water and dissipating as the ripples fade.

  10. Our main problem with misery in this article is that maybe no religion is right. That we are just killing ourself over fake idol. That we waste the time to speak to the fake idol when he isn't their. Also that we do stuff because u do it for god. Like u go kill a person because he broke a few commandments when their might be a chance for god and might not. You would have ended someones life and have corrupted your life with that. The solution for this problem is that one religion is right and others are wrong. The reason for the mercy is that you might just be believing in the wrong god. Also god could be punishing you for just believeing in a fake idol. If their is misery in world and our religious diversity cause lots if death in the world. Therefore god does exist but can also not exist.

  11. In Buddhism the human predicament is that of suffering. We have this problem because they say that we have connections to many things and when we lose those connections then that causes us pain and suffering. In order to prevent suffering from happening they believe that we need to be enlightened and that we need to let go of the material possessions that we are attached to. To achieve Nirvana we need to obey a series of guidelines which they call The Four Noble Truths. If you follow these then you will achieve salvation

  12. In Christianity, the reason people suffer is because of Adam and Eve. God told them both not to eat from the Tree of Knowledge, Good and Evil and they did. Them doing this caused all other humans on the Earth to suffer. Humans can repent from their sins or pray to God for salvation and forgiveness. Also, humans should fast every once in awhile so they get closer to God. Also, Christians should firmly believe that Christ died for us and our sins and we should be thankful for that. If a person repents, prays and believes that Jesus died for our sins, then hopefully that person will be blessed enough to make it to God's kingdom, Heaven. That is a Christian's desire.

  13. Within the religion of Christianity, the hum predicament is caused by the "original sin" hailing from the wrongdoings of Adam and Eve. They ate from the tree that God had told them not to asociate near. Because of them, all humans are born with the stain of original sin and carry it with them for their lives, unless they are baptized into Christianity. Salvation, however, is still not certain as you must lead a peaceful life by following the Ten Commandments and representing Jesus' name in a positive way. This is the true way to be accepted at the Pearly Gates and live in heaven with God.

  14. In Christianity, the human predicament resulted from the original sin of Adam and Eve which was them knowingly disobeying God by eating the apple from the tree. This original sin caused every human born to be contaminated with sin. Humans can escape this predicament by having faith in Jesus Christ. The end state is judgement day, where God will take all the good to heaven where they will experience eternal salvation.

  15. In Buddhism suffering is everywhere. you can only get past it if you break the cycle of reincarnation and reaching enlightenment. materialism is the base of all suffering. Buddhists meditate and try to become at balance with the universe so that they may become enlightened. The ultimate goal is to rach the supreme state of Nirvana.
